The UMBC Summer Day Camp has a plethora of weekly programs and activities aimed at delivering both fun and learning opportunities for kids.
Week 1 – Adventure Week – June 10th – 14th
Meet True Grit, UMBC’s mascot! Kick off your summer with a week of adventure! This week will feature exciting activities such as DIY boat races, CEI Arena tour, yoga at the pond, and a treasure hunt. Connect with friends old and new during a “Field Day” playing yard games such as twister, giant Jenga, and relay races.
Week 2 – Sports Extravaganza – June 17th – 21st (Closed Wednesday, June 19th for Juneteenth) SOLD OUT – Wait list available
Show off your favorite sports gear and participate in sports trivia. This week will feature various Counselors vs. Campers sports challenges! As we continue to encourage our campers to be active, they will be able to try out different sports, such as pickleball, frisbee, soccer, and wiffleball. Have fun with fitness challenges and a Ninja Warrior obstacle course!
Week 3 – Under the Big Top – June 24th – 28th SOLD OUT – Wait list available
Come one, come all! Campers will participate in carnival games where everyone’s a winner! This week will feature giant board games, sweet treats, and a photo booth. Campers will also have an opportunity to show off their silly side by participating in Wacky Tacky Day.
Week 4 – Stars & Stripes – July 1st – 3rd (Closed July 4th & 5th for Independence Day)
Wear your favorite red, white, and blue all week long while playing camp games such as Uncle Sam Says, Red, White & Blue tag, and a patriotic scavenger hunt around the RAC. This week campers can enjoy winning prizes at Fourth of July bingo and relaxing with red, white, and blue popsicles!
Week 5 – Fantasy Week – July 8th – 12th SOLD OUT – Wait list available
Explore different realms of beloved characters this week through arts and crafts and other activities. Campers will spend each day in a new world, including popular fairy tales, cartoons, wizards, Jedis, and superheroes. Whether it be through trivia, making slime, or dressing the part, let your imagination run wild!
Week 6 – At the Beach – July 15th – 19th SOLD OUT – Wait list available
Time to soak up some sun! This week will feature a Hawaiian shirt day, sponge relays, and a camp-wide water balloon toss competition. Campers can participate in tie-dyeing their camp shirt during arts and crafts! A pool party featuring music, snow cones, and water games will highlight the week.
Week 7 – Science & Conservation – July 22nd – 26th SOLD OUT – Wait list available
Explore science and conservation all week long through interactive experiments, educational sessions, and nature walks. Campers will also enjoy potting seeds, building with Legos, and an egg drop competition. Get ready to get your hands dirty with Cup o’ Dirt at snack on Friday!
Week 8 – Color Wars – July 29th – August 2nd SOLD OUT – Wait list available
During this widely anticipated week, campers and counselors will be split into two teams, Black and Gold, to compete for the coveted trophy! Each day campers and counselors will compete in competitive recreational and intellectual games. Although this will be a competitive week, counselors and staff will continue to place a strong emphasis on sportsmanship, respect, and fair play.
Week 9 – UMBC’s Got Talent – Aug 5th – 9th SOLD OUT – Wait list available
Campers and counselors will be preparing for the summer finale, UMBC’s Got Talent and an Art Show, while still enjoying great fun and games. Parents will be invited to the great performance on Friday. This week will also feature a staff and counselor talent exhibition where campers can explore a variety of talents, such as goal-keeping, dunking a basketball, and art.
